Unity then mission!

Behold how good and how pleasant it is For brethern to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1 NKJHave you ever wondered about Jesus’ prayer for unity: ...that they all may be one....even as we are one (John 17:21,22)? Have you ever questioned how this unificaiton could ever be realized? What is it going to take to see unity come to the fragmented and divided Body of Christ? The good news is: it is going to happen! Every time we pray the Lord’s Prayer, we speed the day of its fulfillment. “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in Heaven” is a request that the Lord made to the Father that is sure to become a reality. Jesus never prayed a prayer that was not answered. Some people feel it will take global persecution to unify the Church. They seem to be saying that if Christians are threatened with death then they will settle their differences.I personally believe that God would get more glory from a unity based on internal love than one based on external coercion. It appears that we are saying, “the message of love and forgiveness can not unify us, but only the threats of extermination.” I don’t really believe that God’s grace, mercy, and love are exalted by a unity the only comes through persecution and threats. One translation of this text reads: “What a wonderful thing it is when brothers live together in harmony.” Perhaps we ought to remember that the closer we get to the Lord, the closer we get to each other! Jesus, our Lord, prayed that we would be one.“...has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19 NKJ). UNITY IS COMING!I have decided that my life is meant to be spent on this unity. On the colaboration with His will to see “brothers dwell together in unity.” Hence, “Convergence” is the way that I have been given to actively pursue that unity. To see all the different streams of our faith blended together in one united way.The competion between Christian express must stop. Only as unified brethern will we ever be “missional.”
