Simple Prayer....

I have come to understand that few people really read these things.... imagine my shock? But I write anyway because I feel some sort of grace when I do.I also realize that prayer is something everyone claims to believe in and yet few really practice! Unless of course there is an emergency! Or Crisis!Prayer is and has been and continues to be that place in my life that gives me the greatest satisfaction and fulfillment. Ministry and all its things seem so contrite in comparision. And interestingly enough it is the Lord's Prayer to which I always return. This simple little prayer, the one everyone knows continues to hold me in His embrace like nothing else.I was reading this morning and rather stumbled across this quote and it stirred my heart so deeply that I had to share it with you, you few.... I hope it ministers to you as it has to me.“This prayer, the Our Father, contains the fullness of perfection. It was the Lord Himself who gave it to us as both an example and rule. It raises up those making use of it... to that prayer of fire known to so few. It lifts them up, rather, to that ineffable prayer which rises above all human consciousness, with no voice sounding, no tongue moving, no words uttered. The soul lights up with heavenly illumination and no longer employs constricted, human speech. All sensibility is gathered together and, as though from some very abundant source, the soul breaks forth richly, bursts out unspeakably to God, and in the tiniest instant it pours out so much more than the soul can either describe or remember when it returns again to itself. (John Cassian   360-435)This simple prayer .... the Our Father... takes me beyond myself into His Presence. Thank you Lord for sharing your prayer with us.
