LOVE YOUR ENEMIES

Over the last few weeks I have watched as rain has perhaps  the drought that clung to the Heartland of America to an end. The rivers and streams once again are running with the much needed water. The lakes are rising to flood levels and many of my neighbors are opening long forgotten wells.The very sound of rain has brought both joy and pain. In the short term I can see the devastation of too much too quickly, but in the long term the rains are answering prayers and providing for the future. What we most needed has come so quickly.Right in the heart of the 'beatitudes' Jesus makes this statement, "love your enemies." Love, fills the arteries of our lives. We must have it, but too much seems devastating. But, Christ make this radical command "love your enemies." I seems both insane and impossible.As I write this I can hear the sound of the rain falling again.... difficult in the short term, but miraculous in the long term. Lord may we as the Loved, love our enemies and so flood the earth with your Love!
