IF YOU KNEW THE GIFT….

You can see this video blog at: http://youtu.be/99Wm_vwloucJesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked HIm, and He would have given you living water.”  John 4:10I wonder if we in the 21st Century grasp the “gift of God?” “...the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23) Life... the God-life that comes into our infinite existence to join Himself with us.Christ became the son of man so that we could become the children of God. "Had he not lowered himself to come down to us, none of us could ever have gone to him by any merits of our own" (Leo the Great).I have watched my children open gifts for thirty years. I have experienced their joy as they received gifts from their Mother and I. It has been one of the sweetest blessings of our lives. And the amazing thing is we never once had to tell them to “have joy.” Joy was the by-product of receiving a gift.I look into the eyes of believers today and I sometimes wonder if they have received “the gift of God,” maybe they’ve just forgotten. No wonder Christ told the woman. "…if you knew the Gift of God and who it is who says to you….you would ask and He would give you living water.” We as Christians should know that "The Gift" (Jesus Christ) continues to give us gifts. Gifts that are a blessing to us every day.Far to often we think that Christmas is merely a time of remembering. We settle for simply remembering what happened in Bethlehem! We need to realize that the "Gift of Christ" continues to give life to us today. Christ is the gift that continues to give.Joy is the results of opening of receiving "the Gift." Every time we receive the blessing of a fresh gift we experience a fresh dose of Joy. My prayer is that you "open His gifts" every day  of our lives and walk in His Joy.MERRY CHRISTIMASPastor Quintin
