I wonder how "the way" worshipped
One of the most ancient names for Christianity is simply “the Way”. “About that time .... there arose no little stir concerning the Way.” (Acts 19:23). It was a name that really focused on the practical nature of the Christian faith. Christianity was more than an idea or a theory to those early followers of Jesus. It was more than some teaching about God. They had seen Christ live and die and live again. Christianity was seen as a way of living. It was seen as a path, a journey, a way of living life right now.The way we live is seen and noticed by those with whom we share this planet. It is the way we live that gives witness to what or who we follow. The “Way” we relate to each other and the world around us tells a lot, not only about who we are, but about who we following. The “way” we love or hate. The “way” we forgive and forget. The “way” we work through the challenges of life. They way we worship (or not).Christianity is about committing ourselves to a way of life. It is about stepping out upon a path and following. Christianity has been reduced to a teaching, a destination, or empowerment. When we reduce the delivery of our faith to a class, or an experience, our faith is weakened.Christianity is a living experience, not a recovered memory. Christianity is the ever-new, personal and direct experience with the Holy Spirit, right here, right now in this present moment.Christ gave us the honor not only to know him and believe in him, but also to live in him. He gave us the Holy Spirit not only to teach, to empower us, but also to dwell in us, reform us, and renew our minds. Every day the Holy Spirit takes what is the Lords and gives it to us.Life in Christ, is an action, a living experience, it is a ceaseless growth in the Spirit.Just as we humans live in physical contact with other people we also live in spiritual contact with God. It is that contact with the Holy Spirit that is reflected in the way we live out our physical lives.Prayer is the way we maintain that spiritual contact. Christ calls us to prayer. He continually asks us to pray and not to lose heart, to pray with persistence and passion. Our prayer points to the source from which we receive the power for conversion, renewal, deliverance, growth; the ability to live His Way!The “thing” that is most needed to live “the way” can only be received by prayer because it belongs to God: “How much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him” (Luke 11:13).“The ultimate aim of the Christian is to acquire the Holy Spirit” St Seraphim of SarovSo, where do we start? I want to suggest we start with worship!Perhaps we need to uncover the way that “the way” worshiped!Just say’in!!!
