Make Room for Him...

“And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths and laid Him in a manger, because there was a no room for Him in the Inn.” Luke 2:7This would become the norm for Christ. No room! No vacancy! It still happens today, people don’t have room for him in their busy schedules. God comes to us and yet we are too full with other things to make room or take time. It is interesting to me that it was difficult to find accommodations for the Presence of God.However, in most of the church growth models of the 21st century there really is no “time” no “room” for the Presence of God. One church growth guru recently told me that he believed that the Spirit of God was present in their quarterly planning sessions. So I suppose that iff the Spirit wanted to do anything he would make His request known during the planning session? I guess I was under the misconception that the prophets and the “spirit of revelation” had already held a meeting.Interestingly enough the scribes were able to tell the wise men where to find the child, but couldn’t take time to go with them. Prophets had tried to get humanity’s attention and John the Baptist made it widely known that the Christ was here, but still there was very little room for the Christ.Jesus said, “...thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” Sad but true. Even more disheartening is that today there is not a lot of difference. Christ is here! He wants our attention and He desires to communicate to us when we gather together (and I’m not referring to the monologue called a sermon).According to the prophet, God wants in! He wants into our hearts, our minds, our families, and our worship gatherings.Christ needs room! Room to be born. I hope we make room for Him this season.
