Be Filled with "His" Ability

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. (John 16:7)Jesus told those who had walked by His side for three years that it was to their "advantage" if He went away and sent them the Holy Spirit. It is the work of the Holy Spirit that made you a new creation in Christ. This new birth is not merely an idea or a myth, but an actual fact.It is the will of God that each of us are filled with His Holy Spirit; "Be filled with the Holy Spirit... (Eph. 5:18). The Apostles taught early believers to be born-again and to receive, be filled with the Holy Spirit. But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses.... (Acts 1:8). The Greek word dunamis, translated power, means "ability and might." To be filled with the Holy Spirit is to be filled with the ability of God. Thisdunamis, transforms our lives so that our very being, (our lives) become a witness, the very evidence, that Jesus has been raised from the dead.Unfortunately, religious tradition, and the doctrines of men have robbed many believers of the empowering  of the Holy Spirit. There has been a failure to teach converts that the Holy Spirit is not only living in them, but also willing to come upon them and empower them with His ability.I do not want you to misunderstand me, it is most certainly true that the Holy Spirit comes into the believer at salvation.  However, it is also true that there is a release of His power within and upon a believer. In the eighth chapter of the book of Acts, Philip preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus. Verse 12 says they believed and were baptized. But if you keep reading the scriptures reveal a great truth:  "they sent Peter and John to them,  who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit." (Acts 8:14-17).Paul asked the people of Ephesus, "Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed? And they said to him, We have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." (Acts 19:2). "...when Paul laid his hands on them; the Holy Spirit came on them..." (Acts 19:5,6).These scriptures clearly reveal that the empowering of the Holy spirit is not automatic. Christians must be taught to believe for and to receive the empowering of the Holy Spirit.I am attempting to encourage every believer that God desires to empower every Christian with "His ability!" Every Christian remembers and celebrates, Christmas and Easter. However, if we are not very careful we miss Pentecost! On the day of Pentecost Peter told the people, "This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.... For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call unto Himself." (Acts 2:32, 33, 39).This promise is yours! The Bible simply says, "Be filled with the Holy Spirit ... " (Eph. 5:18).In other words, "Be filled with the power, the ability of God ...."I am praying for you, believing for you to be filled with the very dunamis of the Holy Spirit.....
