Any old bush will do!

It is not the bush that sustains the flame. It is God in the bush, and so, any old bush will do!The great mystery of the Scriptures continues to be that God has selected the least of all vessels to do his greatest work. I have had to be reminded over and over again that what I am in this moment of my life is highly irrelevant. My nationality, my education, my position, my personality even my own spirituality is not really very important. Who I am matters very little. What is valuable, what really matters is what and who I am becoming. It is not the bush that sustains the flame. It is God in the bush, and so, any old bush will do!Moses and I have had to learn the same lesson (unfortunately I have had to learn it over and over) that God is the source of the fire, not the bush. So often we think that becoming a Christian is a matter of conforming to a certain pattern of behavior, or a certain idea of preconceived holiness. That idea is caused by having viewed the incredible power of God from a distance.God called Moses by name only after Moses had come closer. God does not speak to us when we are admiring Him at a distance. No, God speaks to us when we “turn aside to see.”If we want to experience the very passionate Presence of God we must move out of the cheap seats. Don’t be afraid, you are not the source of your own life. The source of the flame and the source of your life is Him and only Him. Religion has crippled too many people for far too long. Who and what you are is not really what is important. Who and what you are becoming is everything. Any old bush will do ….. come closer to Him and the secret of Christ in you will be yours.
