Do something .... while you "wait"

"....the lives of the poor he shall save" Psalm 72:13With each passing year I realize more and more just little control I have over my own life. More and more things are decided for me by the society into which I was born. It has become increasingly important to realize that the largest part of my life involves waiting to be acted upon.Reflecting on the Christmas story, Jesus reminds me that not to be in control is part of the human condition. Our human experience is filled and fulfilled not by the mere actions that we take but in large part by waiting. I am beginning to realize just how important this message is to the society in which I live.God is waiting on our response to the divine love revealed in Jesus Christ. The Father is not going back into action, but rather waiting on our response. Perhaps we don’t always need to go back into action but to wait in obedience. In simply obedient faith we will see the fulfillment of our deepest longing, in waiting.Patience is not something that is very plentiful today!  However, I am convinced that the power and the manifested glory of the Father is found in waiting.Waiting however does not mean we do nothing! As we wait for His love to act upon us, let us serve others. Let us act on others on behalf of the One whom we are waiting for! Thus, our waiting is not simply our waiting on God, but also a partcipation in God’s waiting on us. “...the lives of the poor he shall save”     Through us!
